Visitor Essentials

Yuanbei Islet is located to the east of Qitou Village in Baisha Township, southwest of Niaoyu, and near Pengpeng Beach. It gets its name from its shape, which resembles a conch shell covering the water surface, offering remarkably beautiful and unique scenery. The northern coast features well-developed basaltic columnar joints, with the 'Stone Pen,' 'Stone Inkwell,' 'Wordless Heavenly Book,' and 'Stone Ink' being the most renowned. The northeastern sea cliffs of Yuanbei Islet display extensive columnar basalt formations that are narrower at the top and wider at the bottom, resembling a pleated skirt with numerous folds, offering significant aesthetic value. Yuanbei Islet's 'Stone Pen, Stone Inkwell, Wordless Heavenly Book, Stone Ink, and Pleated Skirt' are not only famous geological features but have also been designated as a basalt natural reserve. The small hill behind Yuanbei Islet's village is an excellent vantage point to admire the beautiful scenery, offering views of the wondrous basalt formations towards the northwest coast – truly a must-visit attraction when coming to Yuanbei Islet!
