Jibei Island

Jibei Island spans approximately 3.1 square kilometers with a coastline of about 13 kilometers. It is the largest island in the Beihai (Northern Sea) area and a top tourist destination in the country. The island's terrain gradually slopes from east to west. Its most prominent geographical features are the beautiful beaches and sand spits, formed by marine deposition. The main beach, located in the island's southwest, extends south from Xikan Mountain. At its southernmost point, a sand spit, influenced by ocean currents, reaches into the sea, measuring about 800 meters long and up to 200 meters wide. Historically, over 200 stone weirs (shihu) of various sizes were strategically built around the island; today, 88 are still present. The island is approximately 5 nautical miles from Chikan, a journey of about 20 minutes.
