Baxian Cave Visitor Center

Baxian Cave, featuring both geological landscapes and prehistoric sites, is located on a sea-facing cliff in Changbin Township, Taitung County, and has more than ten naturally formed sea caves. These caves were originally at sea level but are now scattered along a 150-meter-high cliff face. This phenomenon occurred due to the crustal uplift along the east coast, where sea waves eroded the softer parts of the rock. Baxian Cave currently has trails leading to each sea cave. Among them, the largest is Lingyan Cave, and the highest from the ground is Kunlun Cave, at an elevation of 130 meters. Other caves include Ganyuan Cave, Chaochen Cave, Hailei Cave, Chaoyin Cave, Yong'an Cave, and Shuilian Cave. As many caves have been occupied and converted into shrines, their names often carry religious connotations.
