Youzih Lake

Youzih Lake itself is not actually a lake, but a small fishing village developed in earlier years. The 'lake' in its name is a corrupted pronunciation of 'Ao,' which means 'cove' in Taiwanese Hokkien (Minnan dialect). Located north of Haishenping, Youzih Lake was formerly a small fishing village. Although all residents have since moved away, the traditional houses built with 'laogushi' (coral reef rock) are quite distinctive. When the evening glow illuminates the ruins of these old houses, their warm yellow hues evoke a strong sense of nostalgia. Besides admiring the historic settlement, visitors can join a local guide to explore popular hidden spots along the coast near Youzih Lake, such as Wungong Cave, Cui Lake, and the Blue Cave. Experience the cool breeze within the caves, dive into the Blue Cave to marvel at its stunning underwater world, or jump into Cui Lake for a swim, enjoying the refreshing coolness of the summer ocean.
