Xiuguluan River

The Xiuguluan River, approximately 104 kilometers long, originates from the Central Mountain Range. It is the largest river in eastern Taiwan, carving its way through the Coastal Mountain Range until it flows into the sea. Years of fluvial erosion by the river have carved out many steep gorges, creating topographical features such as meanders and river terraces. It has also sculpted the sedimentary rocks of the surrounding mountain ranges into diverse and magnificent landscapes. The cluster of massive boulders, commonly known as 'Emperor Stones,' are as white as jade with patterns resembling paintings, hence they are referred to as 'Xiugu Shuyu' (Xiugu's Washed Jade).
