Taoyuan: Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Museum

[Evaluation Validity Period: 2023/07/11~2026/07/10] Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was established in 1946. In its early days, it produced raw herbal powders, pills, granules, pastes, and elixirs, and later began to engage in the production of modern concentrated Chinese medicine preparations, becoming a pioneer in the development of concentrated Chinese medicine (scientific Chinese medicine) in Taiwan. In 1966, the Zhonghe plant began integrated operations for mass production of high-quality concentrated Chinese medicine. In 1976, it was the first to introduce the GMP concept. In 1986, after inspection and evaluation by the Department of Health, it became the first pharmaceutical factory in the nation to pass the GMP software evaluation for Chinese medicine. Furthermore, in 2000, it invested three billion (NTD) to establish a Chinese Herbal Medicine Industry-Academia-Research-Education Park in Zhongli. With a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and stringent quality control requirements, it continuously innovates, and its various dosage forms of products have been widely recognized by the medical community and marketed worldwide. In 2018, it passed the strict PIC/S GMP site inspection certification by Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), an independent administrative agency. In 2020, to allow more people to learn about Chinese medicine, the Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Museum was established, passing on Chinese herbal medicine cultural knowledge to the public. The Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Museum is divided into five sections based on the Wuxing (Five Elements): Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, corresponding to different herbal remedies. The museum displays over a hundred types of Chinese medicinal materials and sparks people's interest through interactive multimedia and touch-screen process mini-games. A lively and engaging five-sense exploration is designed: using hearing to enter the magical world of Chinese herbal medicine; using smell to connect with the imagination of scents; using touch to feel the energy and texture of medicinal materials; using taste to enjoy pure and healthy nourishment; and using sight to observe the patterns and appearance of medicinal materials. It hopes to inspire a way of life that enhances sensitivity and understanding of oneself and the world. The diversity of life created through the philosophy of Chinese herbal medicine not only makes us healthier and happier but also enriches our lives. After sixty years, inheriting Sun Simiao's spirit of healing and saving lives, and innovating and seeking change within tradition. We welcome you to visit the Sheng Chang Chinese Herbal Medicine Exploration Museum to learn about and experience the rich essence of Chinese medicine culture, and to draw upon the wisdom of ancient sages for health preservation.
