Hsinchu: GBA Brewery & Beer Culture Museum

【Assessment valid from: 2023/09/20 to 2026/09/19】 In 2002, the founder of GBA Brewery Restaurant frequently traveled to the United States for business, often gathering with friends in different cities at local craft beer restaurants. Deeply fascinated by the culture of beer tasting and beer pairing, a thought sparked in his mind: to introduce the Upper Casual dining culture of Europe and America to Taiwan. After years of planning, "GBA Brewery Co., Ltd." was established in 2007, and officially opened in Xinyi District, Taipei City in 2008, becoming the first restaurant to enter a department store at that time. Today, there are multiple branches across Taiwan. The founder has always upheld the philosophy of giving back to the community, resolving to move the brewery back to its original starting point. In 2020, GBA Brewery & Beer Culture Museum settled in Zhubei, becoming the first modernized tourist factory in the area that combines a brewery and a restaurant. The 2F Beer Culture Exhibition Area offers guided tours by dedicated staff, providing a detailed introduction to the long and rich history of beer. It showcases the four main ingredients of the "German Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot)": malt, hops, yeast, and water. The entire brewing process, from the initial grinding of malt, mashing, and filtration to subsequent fermentation and maturation, is fully presented with videos alongside the brewery's production line, illustrating the complete lifecycle of beer. In addition to experiencing the actual raw materials, the site also offers guided tastings of GBA Brewery's five signature beer flavors, led by dedicated staff. Through the etiquette of beer appreciation, beer becomes more than just "chugging," allowing visitors to experience and taste different layers and flavors at each stage. The GBA Brewery Restaurant on the 1F, renowned for its "handcrafted creative international cuisine, classic German fresh-brewed beers, friendly and hospitable service, and a brand-new dining experience," is highly popular among consumers.
