Hualien: TCC DAKA - Open Ecological Circular Factory

In November 2017, TCC Chairman Nelson Chang first unveiled the TCC Group's transformation and upgrading blueprint at an investor conference, positioning TCC as a 'green environmental engineering company fully dedicated to managing the complex relationship between human civilization and nature.' TCC is not just a cement manufacturing and sales company, but an Eco-solution provider that actively befriends the environment and proactively solves environmental problems, utilizing innovative technology and thinking to develop new energy, striving towards the goals of 'zero waste, zero pollution, and zero emissions.' TCC DAKA - Open Ecological Circular Factory, located within the cement plant in Heping Village, Xiulin Township, Hualien County, is an ecological knowledge attraction in northern Hualien. 'DAKA' means 'to overlook' or 'to gaze' in the Truku language, symbolizing TCC's original intention to look towards a beautiful future together with the surrounding tribal communities. TCC DAKA - Open Ecological Circular Factory is the world's first 'circular economy' factory integrating a cement plant, thermal power plant, and industrial port. By opening its factory doors, TCC allows the public to glimpse the 'Port-Power-Plant Tri-Integration' circular economy that has been operating in the Heping Industrial Park for 20 years. Simultaneously, it combines the community and factory areas to create an ecological cluster, fostering communication between the factory and society. TCC DAKA offers diverse guided tours and cement DIY workshops (reservations required). The first phase of open areas also welcomes the public for free visits. Visitors to the Vision Pavilion can learn about TCC's circular economy, cement manufacturing process, ecological restoration, and local revitalization concepts and efforts. At the park entrance is East Asia's first large outdoor solar art installation – the Heping Flower (smart flower). In the center of the park, designed with an infinite loop symbol, is a musical fountain utilizing recycled water that chimes every hour; there is also Eastern Taiwan's best plant conservation classroom, the world's only botanical garden exclusively for bromeliads – the Baifeng Garden, and the DAKA Market, operated by local villagers with strong tribal characteristics. It is worth noting that TCC does not profit from DAKA. Registration fees for guided tours, stall usage fees at the DAKA Market, and a fixed percentage of monthly revenue from shops within the park are all contributed to Heping Elementary School's education fund, collectively supporting local revitalization.
