Nantou: Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation Nantou Tourism Winery

【Assessment validity period: 2022/08/17~2025/08/16】 This factory was established in 1977 (ROC year 66). It produces various fruit wines, whiskies, brandies, and more. Since the activation of its product promotion center in 2005 (ROC year 94), it has been open for visits year-round, with the exception of Lunar New Year's Eve. It offers a 'wine bank' for purchasing and customized services for personalized commemorative wines, making it a diverse recreational Taiwanese winery. Nantou Winery is a factory of Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL) that produces fruit wines. In 1973 (ROC year 62), in compliance with the directive of then-Governor Hsieh Tung-min of Taiwan Province, a fruit winery was planned and established to process the province's abundant fruit harvests, thereby increasing fruit sales and farmers' income. Construction began in March 1975 (ROC year 64), and the provincial governor approved its name as the Nantou Winery of the Taiwan Provincial Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau. In July 1977 (ROC year 66), the factory construction was completed, and it began producing high-quality fruit wines primarily from pineapples and starfruit. From 1978 (ROC year 67), it took over from Taipei Winery (now known as Linkou Winery, formerly Taipei No. 1 Winery) in purchasing wine grapes and producing grape wines and brandies. Subsequently, it successively took on the production of other fruit wines such as lychee wine, plum wine, and various other plum wines, as well as distilled spirits like rum and whisky, making this factory a specialized producer of grape and other fruit wines. In July 2002 (ROC year 91), when the Taiwan Provincial Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau was reorganized into a corporation, this factory was renamed Nantou Winery of Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation. This factory is the sole winery under Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL) that specializes in fruit wine production. It houses various departments responsible for manufacturing, research and development, quality control, equipment maintenance, occupational safety and health, warehousing, and administrative support, employing approximately 200 staff members. The factory implements a total quality management system and has passed assessments for international standard quality management and environmental management systems.
