Taichung: Wuri Beer Tourist Factory

【Evaluation Validity Period: 2022/10/09~2025/10/08】 The Wuri Beer Brewery is located on the bank of the Fazi River in Wuri, directly opposite the Taichung HSR Station. It is the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL)'s sole research, development, and production factory for its beer series. Here, visitors can not only observe the beer brewing and packaging processes but also see the world's rare copper mashing tun, and simultaneously experience the full range of fresh beer products. The Wuri Beer Brewery is one of the company's three major breweries. In the 1960s, it was planned and built by the Provincial Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau to meet the demand of the central and southern markets. It was completed and began production in September 1968. After subsequent expansions, its current annual production capacity is 100 million liters, which is equivalent to 16 million dozen 0.6-liter bottled beers. In 2003, to carry on the glorious history of Taiwan Beer and embody a spirit of innovation and excellence, a Beer R&D Center was established. It first launched Golden Medal Taiwan Beer, creating a new milestone for Taiwan Beer. Subsequently, a series of fruit beers were introduced, which became very popular. Currently, it serves as a key factory for beer research, development, and production. Furthermore, to enhance quality, it has passed ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22000, TQF certification, and the Ministry of Finance's premium alcoholic beverage certification. The factory complex is situated on the bank of the Fazi River in Wuri, directly opposite the Taichung HSR Station, and is well-connected by national highways and expressways, ensuring convenient transportation. Here, in addition to observing the beer brewing and packaging processes, visitors can also see the world's rare copper mashing tun and its related artifacts, while also experiencing the full range of fresh beer products. The Wuri Beer Brewery, located in Wuri District, Taichung City, has actively collaborated with local communities to develop tourism, coinciding with the construction of the Zhongzhang Expressway and the HSR station. Given its advanced beer research and development technology and comprehensive artifact preservation, the Wuri Beer Brewery plans to develop into a 'Beer Village' by integrating local resources. The Wuri Beer Brewery was originally named Zhongxing Beer Brewery, and its former site was the Wuri Sugar Factory of the Taiwan Sugar Corporation. Golden Medal Beer created a new milestone for Taiwan Beer and established the Wuri Beer Brewery's direction towards becoming a beer R&D center, also obtaining GMP factory certification. Since its production began in 1966, from raw materials, water quality, and production processes to finished products, all stages have undergone strict quality control. The beers produced are deeply loved by the Taiwanese people and are also a favorite among foreign visitors to Taiwan. In 2003, the Wuri Beer Brewery further developed Golden Medal Beer, laying the foundation for its milestone move towards becoming a beer R&D center. In 2004, the Beer R&D Center was officially established.
