With the arrival of harvest season, overproduction often leads to dirt-cheap prices, while insufficient yields make prices as precious as gold. Farmers, unable to understand market conditions and lacking sufficient information, are often passive and vulnerable. The Guaguayuan Xinhua Edible Sweet Potato Production and Marketing Class, established in February 1991 under the guidance of agricultural authorities, is dedicated to sweet potato cultivation and processing. During class meetings, all members jointly negotiate prices, allowing members to focus solely on improving cultivation quality without bearing the risk of price fluctuations. Complementary measures are subsidized to ensure members have no worries, serving them to jointly create the highest quality and maximum profit, and fully acting as a bridge between farmers and consumers. This aims to elevate Taiwan's sweet potato industry towards a new direction of 'integrated production, manufacturing, and sales channels.' Guaguayuan insists on transforming the traditional food—sweet potato—through professional contract farming processes and processing sales, thereby creating a new sweet potato consumption culture. They are committed to ensuring consumers can eat with both safety and peace of mind. To achieve this goal, they start from the source, aiding subsequent processing control by establishing standardized cultivation management for healthy sweet potato seedlings, pesticide residue testing management, a six-stage grading quality inspection mechanism, and preservation techniques that allow each sweet potato to mature to its optimal taste. They also strengthen food safety and hygiene control during the manufacturing process. In 2011, preparations began for the "Guaguayuan Sweet Potato Ecological Story House" with the aim of sharing Guaguayuan's sweet potato production process, sweet potato ecology education, and sweet potato knowledge with every visitor!
