Taoyuan: Daxi Old Tea Factory

[Evaluation Validity Period: 2021/04/15~2024/04/14] Daxi Old Tea Factory, built in 1926, was formerly known as "Jiaobanshan Factory." It retains many historical relics from the Nitto Black Tea era and the original appearance of its century-old green architecture. With renovated industrial-style exhibition spaces, a minimalist and refined tea-tasting tearoom, and the simple, authentic imagery of tea production, the rejuvenated old tea factory has regained its former splendor. Built in 1926 and covering an area of 1,670 ping (approx. 5,500 square meters), the Daxi Old Tea Factory was formerly known as "Jiaobanshan Factory." Tucked away in a quiet alley, it is a green building blending Taiwanese, Japanese, and British architectural styles, characterized by its understated freshness and timeless charm that has remained unchanged for a century. Since 2010, it has undergone original-form restoration and renovation, preserving the old tea factory's high-ceiling architecture without excessive embellishment, allowing an ancient, nostalgic ambiance to permeate every corner. This was done to perfectly recreate the enduring century of the old tea factory's history. For a century, the tea from this old factory has accompanied the memories and journey of the Taiwanese people. Through the silent ambiance and interplay of light and shadow within the architecture, the warmth of the old factory is conveyed to visitors. The moment one steps through the door, they can collectively appreciate the genuine connection between tea makers and local culture, as the aroma of tea fills the air, awakening shared memories across generations.
