New Taipei: Hsu Hsin-Wang Ceramics Memorial Museum

[Evaluation Period: 2022/06/17~2025/06/16] In Yingge Jianshanpu, the people of this land were sustained by its clay. The Hsu family's pottery factory, located by the Jianshanpu railway, was just one of many in the area. Many stories have been left behind here, and we hope to share our passion for Jianshanpu's cultural history with everyone who strives for Taiwan, so they can better understand the stories that unfolded in this place. My grandfather, Mr. Hsu Hsin-Wang (1921-1982), viewed the ceramics business as a choice that was both accidental or unintentional, yet inevitable. He started in the difficult and arduous pioneer days of the Japanese colonial era, went through Taiwan's rapid economic boom and prosperity, and by our generation, we can enjoy such happiness. Only by reflecting slowly can we truly understand the meaning behind this business. As we stand under the eaves of this old factory, a few fallen leaves drift down from the gaps in the old cedar wood beam roof. Quietly, we feel the aura emanating from each fire brick over the past 90 years. We can't help but feel the arduous sweat left by Grandpa, instantly dripping onto the scorching red kiln bricks. This place forged so much of Grandpa's spirit of simplicity, frugality, and diligence from the old days. It not only represents the endurance of Yingge people but also the history of Taiwanese people's hard work and struggle.
