Sankuaicuo Station (the old Sankuaicuo Station) commenced operations in February of Meiji 41 (1908). Sankuaicuo Station handled both passenger and freight services, with freight transportation being its primary focus. It made a significant contribution, especially in shipping finished products for Taiwan Renga Co., Ltd. located to its north. Overall, before the current Kaohsiung Main Station opened in June of Showa 16 (1941), Sankuaicuo Station was considered an important railway station, second only to the Old Dagou Station (now Kaohsiung Port Station).
