Goodbye 886 – Taiwan Military Dependents' Village Cultural Park

Starting from 1945, military dependents from various parts of mainland China gradually settled in different parts of Taiwan. As time went by, the unique humanistic atmosphere of the military dependents' villages became a nostalgic taste of home for many. According to statistics from the Ministry of National Defense in 2005, there were a total of 886 registered military dependents' villages nationwide. After the merger of Kaohsiung City and County, it became home to military housing for the army, navy, and air force, preserving nearly 90 hectares of military dependents' village cultural landscape, making its preserved area the largest in the nation. To restore history and connect with the local community, the former 'Kaohsiung Military Dependents' Village Cultural Hall' located within Zuoying Old City was relocated to Numbers 2, 3, 4, 10, and 11, Mingde New Village, Zuoying, Kaohsiung. It reopened transformed under the name 'Goodbye 886 – Taiwan Military Dependents' Village Cultural Park,' leading everyone to understand the uniqueness and beauty of Taiwan's military dependents' village culture.
