Visitor Essentials

The Dahu Tomato Company, located next to Provincial Highway 1 in Dahuli, was built around the Japanese colonial period. It was a Taiwan-Japan joint venture that produced tomatoes exclusively for export. After World War II, it was briefly converted into a pineapple cannery before closing down and falling into disuse. A century-old flame tree (Delonix regia) now grows in the abandoned factory grounds. Every year, its vibrant red blossoms, silently standing against the old, mottled chimney and adorning the red brick and grey walls, create a unique ambiance of lonely beauty. This often draws visitors to stop, admire, and take photos, making it another one of Dahu's hidden gems for exploration or a cultural light travel spot.
