During the Kangxi Emperor's reign, as the number of pioneers in the Lujhu area gradually increased and their lives became more stable, the Tianhou Temple was built on what is now Zhongshan Road in 1671. After multiple renovations and expansions, the number of devotees grew steadily. However, with the changing times and the development of Lujhu's commercial district, the temple's space gradually became insufficient, and there was no land available for further expansion. Therefore, in 1979, following instructions from Mazu, a new temple was built. The old temple in the urban area was preserved, creating a situation where the old and new temples coexist.
