Lide Baseball Stadium, located on Zhongyi Road in Kaohsiung City, was built during the Japanese colonial era. In 1974 (ROC year 63), it was renamed to commemorate the Lide Little League team winning the world championship at the 28th Little League World Series. With a very long history, it holds a special place in the hearts of baseball fans in southern Taiwan. The stadium has 9,500 seats and is the only one in Taiwan with protective netting along all infield foul lines, allowing spectators to get close to the action and the players. The outfield stands are all covered with canopies, offering protection from sun and rain. In preparation for the 2009 World Games and its softball events, the city government renovated the stadium's facilities and removed the outfield stands to better integrate with the Love River landscape. There are ongoing plans to further upgrade it to an international standard stadium, continuously enhancing the multi-functional role of this centrally located baseball venue.
