Kaohsiung City 228 Peace Park

The 228 Peace Monument was originally located in Shoushan Park. Due to the small site and the incomplete historical account on the original inscription, and after more detailed relevant information emerged in recent years, families of the 228 Incident repeatedly suggested the government erect a new monument to soothe their emotional wounds and alert the public. In 2006, a new monument was finally established within 228 Peace Park, located on the west bank of the Love River on Zhongzheng 4th Road, featuring a modern landscape design. The monument's body is designed with an ergonomic angle and height, specifically engraving the complete history of the incident. A memorial wall bearing the names of 168 verifiable victims is accentuated by lush green shrubs, guiding people into the memorial plaza. The overall design is elegant, solemn, and rich in humanistic and historical significance.
