Maolin's Three Famous Mountains - Longtou Mountain, Shetou Mountain, and Guixing Mountain

The Zhuokou River flows through Maolin, creating not only magnificent mountain views but also unique terrains and geological features like waterfalls, canyons, and diverse flora and fauna landscapes. Longtou Mountain and Shetou Mountain are prime examples of inselberg terrain. Shetou Mountain's formation differs from Longtou Mountain's; it was formed by the accumulation of earth and rocks from a landslide, connecting with the hill behind the 'snake's head' to create its current distinctive appearance, which closely resembles the head of a hundred-pace pit viper, complementing Longtou Mountain as they stand on opposing sides. The current separation of Longtou Mountain's 'dragon head' and 'dragon spine' is the result of deliberate blasting during the Japanese colonial era, carried out to facilitate local residents' transportation and alter the water flow. This natural wonder, resembling a giant dragon spitting a pearl, is a result of meanders and inselberg terrain. Viewed from above, it appears like a colossal dragon coiled within the valley, a truly magnificent sight. Longtou Mountain, Shetou Mountain, and Guixing Mountain are collectively known as Maolin's Three Famous Mountains.
