Dagangshan Chaofeng Temple

Dagangshan Chaofeng Temple is located in Gangshan Village, Alian District, Kaohsiung City, situated on the summit of Dagangshan Mountain. It offers vast and boundless views, overlooking the Alian urban area and the plains below Dagangshan. The temple, flourishing with incense and pilgrims, was built in the 28th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1763 AD) during the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of 250 years to date. It is one of the earliest birthplaces of Buddhism in Southern Taiwan, primarily dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. It is currently listed as a Grade 2 historical monument and possesses rich historical value.
