This long-established scenic area in Kaohsiung, renowned for its tranquil environment, consistently draws visitors on holidays and has remained popular over the years. Agongdian Reservoir is situated in the upper-middle reaches of the Agongdian River, spanning the Yanchao and Tianliao districts of Kaohsiung City. Its construction began during the Japanese colonial period, making it Taiwan's longest-running and first completed multi-purpose reservoir. Its natural lake and mountain scenery, coupled with its serene environment, imbue this functional reservoir with a captivating tourist appeal. Agongdian Reservoir features Taiwan's first round-the-reservoir cycling path. This ten-kilometer route connects two suspension bridges and showcases ten scenic spots along the way: Sun Rising over Penglai, Morning Breeze over Lotus Pond, Reflection of Mount Gangshan, Sunset over the Long Embankment, Dragon's Mouth Spring, Moon Reflected on Water, Rainbow Bridge amidst Misty Waves, Cycling alongside Bamboo Groves, Shady Trees and Fruity Scents, and Morning Bell and Evening Drum. Whether enjoying a brisk bike ride or a leisurely stroll along the lakeside, visitors can appreciate the magnificent scenery.
