Yanchao Cockscomb Mountain

Cockscomb Mountain, with an elevation of over 200 meters, is located in Jinshan Village, Yanchao District, Kaohsiung City. Due to variations in the limestone's composition, the mountain peak is rugged and uneven, resembling a rooster's comb. The ridge, stretching for one kilometer, is only six meters wide. Its steep and unique shape makes it Yanchao's most striking landmark. Cockscomb Mountain features several trails and wooden hiking boardwalks. Along the trails, lush forests provide shade, and the ecology is rich. On the rock walls, visitors can also find coral reef geological formations similar to those in Shoushan, as well as numerous embedded mollusk fossils, fully illustrating Yanchao's history of dramatic geological changes. From the observation deck, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Yanchao's surrounding badland geology and beautiful scenery. The summit of Cockscomb Mountain offers a 360-degree panoramic view, with boundless beauty during the morning glow and sunset. However, the terrain at the summit is rugged and treacherous. If you wish to reach the summit, you need to climb with ropes, so caution is advised.
