The Exploitation of the Works of Nature - R23 Qiaotou Railway Station

To continue Kaohsiung MRT's theme of 'Befriending the World with Art,' Qiaotou MRT Station invited Dr. Chu Bang-hsiung of Meinong Kiln to create a ceramic wall public art piece for Qiaotou Station. This monumental ceramic wall artwork, located at Exit 2, is nine meters wide and twelve meters high, and is named 'The Exploitation of the Works of Nature.' Composed of 1311 ceramic panels and consuming over 70 metric tons of clay, the geometric pattern traversing its center symbolizes the abstract consciousness of urban construction. The upper and lower ends represent the land that nurtures sugarcane. Trains carrying sugarcane traverse the land of Qiaotou, parting the clouds and fog, ushering in Taiwan's era of modernization. 'The Exploitation of the Works of Nature' is a breathtaking masterpiece, an ode from the artist to the land, and the most beautiful tribute to Qiaotou.
