Fengshan Xiangong Temple

Located at the southern end of Fengshan, at the intersection of Guotai Road and Wujia Road, Xiangong Temple's full name is 'Fengshan Zhennan Temple'. The origin of Xiangong Temple can be traced back over 200 years to the Qing Dynasty, during the Qianlong Emperor's reign, when Fengshan City was established. When early settlers came here to clear land, reclaim wilderness, and sow seeds, they built a temple at the south gate of Fengshan City to pray for favorable weather and abundant harvests. It primarily enshrines Lü Dongbin, Li Tieguai, and Emperor Shennong. Xiangong Temple has undergone several renovations and expansions. Besides the main hall, it also includes the Five Gates, the Halls of Literary and Martial Sages, Doumu Cihong Palace, and the Lingxiao Baodian. It is a magnificent and grand Southern Min style temple architecture. Its meticulously carved reliefs, wall decorations, dougong brackets, and stone pillars are solemn and beautiful. Among these, the Nine-Dragon Pond in front of the temple and the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea relief wall are particularly admired by pilgrims. Xiangong Temple is spacious and grand, and with Baxian (Eight Immortals) Park serving as its surrounding grounds, it possesses an even more extraordinary presence. It always attracts thousands of worshippers for blessing ceremonies on the birthdays of various deities, or during festivals like Lantern Festival, Double Ninth Festival (Chongyang Festival on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month), and ritual prayers with lantern lighting. It is an enduring and ever-fresh event in Fengshan District's folk customs and religious traditions.
