Republic of China Military Academy (Museum of Military Academy History)

In the early years of the Republic of China, with foreign powers surrounding the nation and facing internal strife and external threats, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the Father of the Nation, resolved to establish a military academy to build national armed forces and cultivate military talent. Thus, in 1924 (the 13th year of the Republic of China), the Republic of China Military Academy was founded on Changzhou Island in Guangzhou. Mr. Chiang Kai-shek was appointed its president, and Dr. Sun Yat-sen personally bestowed the school motto "Brotherhood, Integrity, Fervor, and Precision" (親愛精誠) and the opening address (which later became the lyrics of the national anthem of the Republic of China). This marks the founding history of the Republic of China Military Academy. To adapt to the changing times, the Republic of China Military Academy relocated three times, cultivating tens of thousands of resolute and courageous military personnel for the nation, who upheld their integrity and defended the country and its people. To record and preserve the heroic and tragic history of the Republic of China Military Academy since its founding nearly a century ago, including the Northern Expedition, the War of Resistance against Japan, and the campaigns against communist insurgents, the Academy specifically established a Museum of Military Academy History next to the tennis courts on Huangpu 6th Road within the campus. Located adjacent to the Education Exhibition Hall, it introduces the founding process and future outlook of Whampoa, divided into sections: Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Whampoa, President Chiang Kai-shek and Whampoa, Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo and Whampoa, and Whampoa Today. Within the two-story building, visitors can view various historical materials and artifact photos, making it the best place to understand the cradle of our nation's army talent cultivation and the century-long history of our government.
