In the early morning of 1973, a ferry traveling from Cijin Zhongzhou to Kaohsiung capsized and sank due to overloading and mechanical failure, resulting in the tragic deaths of 25 women who worked in the Kaohsiung Export Processing Zone. Bound by the customs of that era, the 25 unmarried victims were buried together in Cijin, known as the 'Twenty-Five Ladies' Cemetery'.
