Cishan Bridge

Cishan is located in the strategic "throat" area of Kaohsiung City, serving as a transfer hub between the Kaohsiung Plain and mountainous regions. Consequently, the Cishan Bridge, which connects both banks of the Nanzixian River, holds immense importance. In 2009, Typhoon Morakot severely damaged the Cishan Bridge, causing significant transportation inconvenience and economic impact in Cishan. The new Cishan Bridge was conceptualized as a single-tower extradosed bridge with a landmark aesthetic. It is 535 meters long and 22 meters wide, utilizing a large-span cantilever method to minimize the number of piers. Its exterior is embellished with 13 pairs of left-right symmetrical stay cables. The design incorporates the imagery of banana baskets, a local characteristic of Meinong and Cishan. Since its opening to traffic at the end of 2010, the bridge's gracefully structured lines blend seamlessly with the beautiful natural landscapes of Qiaowei Mountain and the Nanzixian River. Enhanced with LED lights for nighttime projection and illumination, it has since become Cishan's new landmark.
