Qishan Landscape Bridge

The Qishan Landscape Bridge is a scenic pedestrian and bicycle bridge spanning the Nanzixian River, situated upstream and parallel to the Qishan Bridge. It was converted from a narrow-gauge railway track used by sugar factories during the Japanese colonial era to transport sugarcane. During Typhoon Morakot in 2009, the original Landscape Bridge's closely spaced piers were believed to have obstructed driftwood and floodwaters, causing the Qishan levee to collapse and the downtown area to flood. After reconstruction in 2013, the pier spacing was widened, and the original structure was reinforced, allowing this shared local memory to be preserved. The Landscape Bridge is 536 meters long. Besides serving as a safe passage for students in the Qishan and Qiwei areas, it is also an excellent spot for tourists to stop and admire the beautiful mountains and rivers. At night, the bridge piers and deck are illuminated, creating a beautiful interplay with the differently shaped Qishan Bridge, making it the most beautiful sight in Qishan at night.
