Gushan Park

Gushan Park's original site was the Qishan Shrine. During the Nationalist Government era, it was renamed Zhongshan Park, and in 1983, a Confucius Temple was built within the park. After a century of historical changes, the park has now reverted to its original name, undergoing renovation and reconstruction in line with its historical and cultural context to reclaim its former glory. Gushan Park is built upon the terrain of Gushan Mountain and faces Qiaowei Mountain across a stream. The park is characterized by ancient towering trees and beautiful forest scenery, with various bronze and stone sculptures scattered throughout, appearing even more elegant amidst the swaying shadows of the trees. The damaged stone lanterns along the old shrine's approach path have been repaired, and combined with dry landscape gardens and fan-shaped floral arrangements, they evoke a distinct Japanese garden style. The city government has also renovated the stair pathways within the park, increased greening, reduced concrete usage, upgraded the mountain trails and bicycle paths, and established ecological ponds and irrigation channels, making the stair-filled park more comfortable, inviting, and natural. In the past, 'Gushan Spring View,' which offered a panoramic vista of the Qishan-Meinong Plain from Gushan Mountain, was celebrated as one of Taiwan's 12 scenic spots. Today, Gushan Park will continue to evolve, transforming into a LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability) forest recreation area for the public.
