Visitor Essentials
Shoushan National Nature Park is Kaohsiung City's most precious green jewel. In addition to its natural resources, it boasts a rich tapestry of human history and cultural footprints. The park covers an extensive area, stretching from Banping Mountain and Guishan in Zuoying District in the north, all the way to Chai Mountain (also known as Shoushan) and Qihou Mountain in Gushan District, encompassing an area of up to 1122.654 hectares. The entire region features limestone geology formed by uplifted high-level coral reefs. The rich biodiversity of its flora and fauna, coupled with its natural ecological environment, has created Kaohsiung's urban oasis. Within the park, besides recreational areas, there are also historical preservation zones, special scenic areas, and controlled access zones. Shoushan National Nature Park offers numerous trails, making it the best place to admire the panoramic views of greater Kaohsiung, observe ecological plants, and study geology. It is also the most significant base for Kaohsiung City's efforts to transform from an industrial city into an ecological city.
