Martyr's Shrine

The Kaohsiung Martyr's Shrine, located at the southern foot of Shoushan Mountain, was originally the Kotohira Shrine built by the Japanese. After several renovations and reconstructions, a mountain gate, main hall, front hall, and cloister towers were added. Adorned with traditional Chinese palace-style golden glazed tiles, it exudes a solemn and majestic aura. Ancient pine trees surround the shrine, creating a serene environment. The area in front of the shrine is lush green and full of antique charm. In recent years, the city government has also erected a 'LOVE' viewing platform next to the shrine. This romantic, giant art installation adds a touch of softness to the shrine's otherwise strong atmosphere. From its elevated position, visitors can overlook the beautiful harbor city. With its grand scale and spectacular scenery, it has become a prime spot for tourists to take photos, enjoy nature, and admire the diverse charm of Greater Kaohsiung, both day and night.
