Visitor Essentials
The Katon Stream Mangrove Protected Area is located at the estuary of Dianbao Stream in Ziguan District. Freshwater discharged from nearby fish farms converges with seawater tides in the wetland, providing a growth environment for mangrove plants such as *Lumnitzera racemosa*, *Kandelia obovata*, *Rhizophora stylosa*, and other valuable mangrove species. Mangroves protect coastlines, conserve water resources, and provide a habitat for various organisms to thrive, thus having a profound impact on environmental ecology. Therefore, in 1992, the government designated this area as a protected area and specially entrusted Keliou Junior High School with its management, planning it as a Mangrove Education Park. The park features wooden boardwalks and observation decks, and offers regular guided tour services by specialists. In addition to enjoying the natural beauty in a tranquil environment, it is also an ideal spot for observing mangrove species ecology and birdwatching.
