Dona High Suspension Bridge

With a total length of 232 meters and a height of 103 meters, spanning Zhuokou Creek, it is reputed to be the highest suspension bridge in Southeast Asia. It holds extraordinary significance for the villagers of Dona, serving as a bridge of emotion where tribespeople bid farewell to relatives, lovers, and friends. To enjoy a unique panoramic view of Longtou Mountain from the suspension bridge, one must follow the directional signs to the Dona High Suspension Bridge. Only by doing so can you get onto the bridge and clearly appreciate the full vista between the Dragon's Head and Dragon's Ridge, as well as the stunning scenery of the twin streams flowing through the valley below. During the Japanese colonial period, strong pacification policies towards indigenous peoples led to fierce conflicts. The Dona tribe, nestled deep in the mountains, was never successfully subdued. Consequently, the Japanese, under the pretense of "peace and warfare," proposed building a suspension bridge to transport provisions, though their true aim was to open up roads and thus implement their indigenous governance policies. The suspension bridge was rebuilt in 1998, and it is imbued with historical significance, making it well worth a personal visit.
