At the intersection of Wufu Road and Guanghua Road in Lingya District, a gigantic, colorful spherical object, standing 38 meters tall, instantly catches the eye of passersby, surprising them. Spanning one hectare, Waterworks Park was originally a large water storage tower and water supply pipelines, constructed in 1960 but later abandoned and decommissioned. Recognizing its historical significance, the city government preserved the water distribution pipelines and painted the exterior of the water tower, which holds 3,800 metric tons of water, in vibrant colors. With added lighting at night, it has become a beautiful landmark in downtown Kaohsiung. The park features seven landscape artworks, and its ground is paved with curved patterns, incorporating fiber optic light strips and glass mosaics to depict a map of Kaohsiung City and various colorful designs. The lush green park is as colorful and charming as a candy house during the day, while at night, its splendid lighting creates a distinct, luxurious atmosphere, transforming a stark industrial site into a soft, new artistic space.
