Jiaxian Bridge

Located on Provincial Highway 20's Southern Cross-Island Highway, Jiaxian Bridge spans the Nanzixian River and serves as the gateway to Jiaxian District. Typhoon Morakot in 2009 severely damaged the old bridge, making access to Jiaxian possible only via a temporary bridge on the riverbed. Following urgent construction by engineering units, the new Jiaxian Bridge was finally completed and opened in June 2010. The rebuilt Jiaxian Bridge serves both as a transportation route and a scenic landmark. This 300-meter steel arch bridge features an extra-long span, with only two piers in addition to the abutments at both ends, thereby minimizing obstructions in the waterway and preventing overflow and riverbank erosion. At the bridgehead, there are sculptures of taro, a famous product of Jiaxian District, and the bridge itself welcomes visitors with its light purple hue. After nightfall, the beautiful three-arch bridge transforms into Taiwan's largest LED light bridge, displaying over twenty changing colors and performing a rainbow-like light show over the Nanzixian River. Its captivating and distinct appearances by day and night have made Jiaxian Bridge a new welcoming landmark for Jiaxian.
