Jiufanpi originally served as a public irrigation pond providing water for agriculture. Due to the decline of agriculture and its isolation by a highway, it was once abandoned and became a site for illegal dumping of construction waste. Thanks to the persistent efforts and advocacy of environmental groups and local enthusiasts, the original waterways were cleaned and dredged. The concept of a natural wetland park was introduced, leading to the planning of facilities such as walking paths, waterfront areas, educational zones, water purification zones, and natural woodland areas. It not only provides a habitat for diverse organisms but also serves as a flood retention and disaster prevention area, and a natural oasis where citizens can connect with nature.
