Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery (Main Branch)

The 'Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery' originated from a charity sale held by Master Hsing Yun in 1994 to raise funds for the establishment of Fo Guang University. This connection came from Fo Guang University, thus it was named 'Fo Guang Yuan'. Currently, there are 27 branch galleries worldwide. Through a global network, they serve artists and audiences from various countries, dedicated to promoting Buddhism through culture and actively advancing the Humanistic Buddhist spirit of ultimate truth, goodness, and beauty. The main gallery is located directly behind the Main Shrine of Fo Guang Shan Monastery in Dashu District, Kaohsiung. Covering an area of approximately 600 pings, it features two exhibition halls: one for permanent exhibitions, while the other accepts applications for temporary exhibitions. Exhibitions, which include Chinese paintings, Western paintings, sculptures, installations, and mixed media, are changed every 1-2 months and are open to the public for free, allowing visitors to simultaneously appreciate the beauty of Buddhist architecture and art. In conjunction with the exhibitions, the main gallery frequently organizes various art lectures, educational, and training courses, providing the public with an aesthetic space that combines leisure and edutainment.
