Xinan Palace Art and Cultural Center

The Xinan Palace Art and Cultural Center is located in Kunjian Village, Beimen District. It's not far from the bustling Nankunshen Daitian Temple, yet it embodies a sense of desolation and the tranquility of a traditional Beimen fishing village. It was here that Mr. Hong Tong, known as the 'Picasso of the East,' created works that captivated the global art scene. Mr. Hong Tong's paintings are imbued with rich, fantastical colors, employing color schemes and brushstrokes rarely seen at the time. A prominent feature of his work is the frequent appearance of undecipherable hieroglyphs and earless figures. Mr. Hong Tong always immersed himself passionately in his painting within a small cottage. The house he once lived in still stands behind the Xinan Palace Art and Cultural Center. Outside, many photos from Mr. Hong Tong's life are displayed, and walking through it, one can almost imagine his earnest dedication as he painted inside.
