Changxing Temple of Suocuo

The origins of Changxing Temple can be traced back to the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty. Local early settlers discovered a 'Wangye Boat' (King Boat) in the ancient Tainan Lagoon (then part of the Zengwen River estuary). Believing it to be an auspicious sign, they began constructing a straw hut by the river, which evolved into a temple for worship. However, in ancient times, the Zengwen River was referred to by local residents as the 'Blind Snake' (青瞑蛇), meaning its riverbed constantly shifted and meandered during flood season, causing disasters along its banks.
