Guma Temple enshrines the four celestial maidens named Yin, He, Li, and Ji. Historically, Guma Temple is the birthplace of the 'Taiwan's First Incense' Xigang Xiangke (Incense Ceremony), making it the 'ancestral temple'. In the 49th year of Qianlong's reign (1784 AD), villagers surnamed Chen discovered a divine boat at Aohu Lake, by the eighteen banyan trees, near the Zengwen River. At the bow of the boat was placed a royal decree for a Heavenly Inspector General. After discussion among the villagers, they decided to respectfully welcome and enshrine it, and from then on, its divine power became even more manifest.
