Completed in 1933, it was formerly the administrative center of Tainan Higher Industrial School under the Governor-General's Office. It is now the NCKU Museum located within the Cheng Kung campus of National Cheng Kung University. It is also Taiwan's first university self-funded museum and another important landmark on University Road, besides the K Building. The large plaza in front of the museum was officially named Nanrong Plaza in 2014 in memory of Mr. Cheng Nan-jung, an important figure in Taiwan's democratic history.
