Yongcheng Theatre

Yongcheng Theatre opened in 1945. However, its predecessor was not a theatre, but the 'Yongcheng Rice Mill' operated by Mr. Huang Zhi. During the Japanese colonial period, the Huang family's rice mill flourished due to its long-term cooperation with the Japanese government, accumulating extensive connections with officials and businessmen. After the outbreak of World War II, the rice mill was also affected. Following the Japanese withdrawal from Taiwan, the heavily damaged rice mill lost its former glory. Mr. Huang Zhi then converted it into a theatre, which is how Yongcheng Theatre came to be.
