Visitor Essentials

The Phoenix Suspension Bridge spans the Zhuxi Stream, connecting the ancient Zhuxi Temple and the Municipal Sports Park. Built in 1982, this approximately 25-meter-long bridge, despite its modest size, blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. The origin of its name, 'Phoenix Suspension Bridge,' is untraceable, though it might be linked to Tainan's nickname, 'Phoenix City,' or the presence of flame trees (phoenix trees) nearby. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Zhuxi area was a favorite scenic spot for the ancient capital's scholars and literati. With dense bamboo groves on both sides and a gently flowing stream, it earned the beautiful moniker 'Misty Rain over Zhuxi Stream'.
