Founded in 1663 (the 17th year of the Yongli reign of the Ming Dynasty), it is primarily dedicated to Emperor Baosheng Dadi and was known as Zhenjun Temple at that time. In 1736 (the first year of the Qianlong reign), the temple raised funds for renovation, and a plaque was hung, renaming it 'Baoning Temple'. Every three to six years, Baoning Temple holds grand festivals and sacrificial rites to welcome deities, depending on the economic situation of the local community.
