Qigu Alstonia Avenue

The Alstonia tree (also known as the blackboard tree) earned its interesting name due to its rapid growth, soft, lightweight, and slightly fragrant wood, which is ideal for making blackboards. Alstonia trees quickly develop expansive canopies, providing excellent shade. They are well-suited as street trees in the sun-drenched coastal area of Qigu, allowing visitors to enjoy the cool breeze and bringing a refreshing and pleasant ambiance to hot summer days. Two neatly arranged rows of Alstonia trees form a long green tunnel along District Road 34 South.
