Koxinga Memorial Park

The year 1661 was a significant one in Taiwan's history, marking the arrival of Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong) and the beginning of his development of the island. Legend has it that Koxinga entered Taiwan through Luermen, and this spot is believed to be where he first set foot. To commemorate Koxinga's accomplishments, the Zhengtong Luermen Mazu Temple donated land to build the Koxinga Memorial Park here. Upon arriving at the park entrance, visitors are greeted by a magnificent and solemn red archway, an imposing bronze statue of Koxinga, and the towering Luermen Landing Monument. Most visitors tend to leave after visiting the Zhengtong Luermen Mazu Temple, making this a less crowded area and giving it a tranquil, hidden gem feel. Closing your eyes, you can almost envision Koxinga's spirited arrival on Taiwan's soil.
