Anping Old Street (Yanping Old Street)

Anping Old Street was established by the Dutch in Anping. In its early days, the streets were designed only for pedestrians and pushcarts, so the street layout was not very wide. Many tourists who come to Anping inevitably visit this ancient street. The bustling and crowded atmosphere is typical of Anping Old Street; it wouldn't feel like Anping Old Street without it. Various old shops line the street. Both domestic and international tourists always weave through the old street, looking for treasures. Occasionally, looking up at the old houses along the street, you can spot several 'Wind Lion Gods' (Fengshiye) perched on the rooftops, or 'Sword Lions' (Jian Shi) above the doorways, which adds to the pleasure of strolling through Anping Old Street. There are also many small paths on the old street that crisscross different parts of Anping. Each path offers a different view, such as Jasmine Lane and Rouge Lane. Many old settlements are preserved within the area. Walking through the quiet alleys feels like stepping back in time, and the intricate alleys also give a sense of adventure. It would truly be a pity to visit Anping Old Street and not explore its alleys.
