Koxinga Shrine

At the intersection of Kaishan Road and Fucheng Road, the majestic stone statue of Koxinga riding a horse always gazes forward, existing in everyone's hearts like a guardian deity of Tainan City. Koxinga Shrine is a red Fuzhou-style building, blending some Japanese influences, and it welcomes many visitors every day. They pass through the Sanchuan Gate, which bears the inscription 'Unprecedented'. If you look closely at the eight door gods depicted on the four doors inside Koxinga Shrine, you'll notice they all have blue eyes and fair skin, resembling foreigners. This is because, in gratitude to Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga) for expelling the Dutch, these Westerners are depicted wearing Ming Dynasty official robes, continuing to guard the temple gates for him, which has become an interesting and unique sight.
