The guardian deity of dockworkers. Located next to Duyue Gate, the long flagstone path is Xinyi Street, familiar to tourists. This narrow street today was once the 'Xingangqian Harbor' waterway, one of the famous 'Five Harbors' of the former Fucheng (Prefectural City). Dockworkers surnamed Huang, Wang, and Liu, who were responsible for transporting goods along the harbor, brought the deity Xuantian Shangdi (Emperor of the Dark Heaven) from their hometowns to Taiwan to pray for safe shipping and smooth work, establishing him as their guardian deity. The temple also became a gathering place for these workers with the same surnames. Jinhua Temple on Shennong Street and Nansha Temple on Heping Street were also founded for similar reasons.
